Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The term Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to two different conditions: Chron's disease and ulcerative colitis. Both of these conditions occur in various areas of your gastrointestinal tract. Providing your body with optimum nutrition is a challenge with IBD.

Malnutrition is a common consequence with IBD. Malabsorption, bacterial overgrowth, electrolyte and mineral loss from diarrhea, blood in the stool, and nutrient - drug interactions can all effect the process by which our bodies obtain nutrients.

There may be a variety of diet modifications that you may need to make in order for your body to function optimally: lactose free, fiber modifications, liquid diets, low fat, high calcium, high iron, high protein. Each of us are individuals and our bodies respond differently to nutrients. In order to maximize your health, an individual approach needs to be taken with your current intake. I will provide you with the nutrition information relevant to your medical condition. Provide you with shopping guidelines and nutrition know-how in order to reclaim your optimum health.

Hi Jihan and everyone, I just found that I can join this message board - fun stuff! Finding Jihan and John has been a true blessing and thanks to Kathy B for leading me to them. May God continue to bless Kathy always!! and all God's blessings on Jihan and John. You have taught me to "never say never"...a big change from just accepting and dealing with what comes my way. I still "accept" but the "dealing" part is now with a different goal. Now I "never say never"!
